Moses Ndiema Kipsiro has won Uganda’s first Gold medal at the 2014 Commonwealth games currently ongoing in Glasgow Scotland.
To clinch the Gold medal, Kipsiro broke away from a group of seven participants who were setting the pace in the race.
As they approached 300 meters to the finish line, the race turned in to a 3 horses’ battle. Kipsiro won in a time of 27:56.11, Canada’s Cameron Levins came second (silver) and Kenya’s Josphat Bett came third (bronze).
Taking Gold means that Kipsiro has successfully defended his Gold medal he won at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
The victory comes as a redemption to Kipsiro who has in the past few years faced a lot of unfair criticism from media elements, many of whom believed that his time was all but over.
We at HiPipo congratulate Moses Ndiema Kipsiro for flying the Ugandan flag higher.
