Iryn Namubiru has this morning been crowned the 2011 Pearl of Africa Music Awards’ Artist of the year, making her the second female singer to have ever won this top accolade ever since PAM started nine years back. To win this, Iryn Namubiru beat tight competition from Angella Kalule, Bebe Cool and Jose Chameleone. She also won album of the year (Birowoozo), Female artist of the year and RnB single of the year (Birowoozo).
In her appreciation speech, Iryn Namubiru said that “2011 has been a ladies year and the PAM Awards grand finale was a girls night”.
Bebe Cool, the 2010 PAM artist of the year has gone home with two accolades for best male artist and best Reggae. At the event, Bebe Cool thanked PAM Awards organizers and said that “this is the biggest event in the country and all musicians must respect.
Angella Kalule has been another big name winning two accolades for Song of the year and best live band single. This success is tremendous because it has been in this year that Angella Kalule has become popular across all music lovers.
Chameleone and Goodlyfe each won one award while Bobi Wine left empty handed.
