Yesterday, patrons who attended Golola Moses’ World Kick-boxing Africa Title fight at Hotel Africana could not hide their excitement after Golola Moses (31) of Uganda knocked out Abdul Qadir Rahim (26) of Southern Sudan in the second round.
The verbally strong, comical, attention seeker and crowd puller Golola walked the talk as he won a world title fight.
Moses Golola proved his kick boxing excellence as he strongly kicked and punched Qadir who did more kicking than boxing. The win gave Moses Golola an automatic ticket to compete in the forthcoming Africa Kickboxing Cup in Addis Ababa. This African contest is slated to take place on October 18th.
Yesterday’s win was Golola Moses’ 14th win and 12th knock out.
But who is Golola Moses?
Golola Moses was born in 1980 in a family of six; three boys and three girls. He attended school and attained a UCE certificate. Due to financial constrains, Moses Golola dropped out of school and joined boxing.
Before joining boxing, Golola wanted to become a famous lad. He first tried out football but his abilities never matched with soccer requirements.
As a young boxer, Golola struggled. He later came to accept that Boxing alone was never going to help him achieve his superstar dream.
Friends advised him to join body building. For eight months, he was part of this sport but quit out of frustration.
In 2000, Golola met Mr Kakonge Swalleh who happened to be an instructor with Uganda kick-boxing association. He impressed, was later enrolled and his kick boxing career began.
After two years of intense training and several competitions, Golola’s road to real fame opened as he won a gold medal at the East African Kick-boxing Championship. This gave him the belief that he Golola Moses was ready to climb the charts.
Today, Golola Moses holds a record of 14 wins, 12 knockouts, one draw and two losses. He has a total of 17 fights.
Apart from Kick Boxing, Golola Moses has made a big name in Uganda as the new sovereign of humor in town. Whenever given time to talk, laughter from the audience never ends. His new hobby keeps him in the media even when he has no fight coming soon.
“I am the only Ugandan who can hang clothes on a MTN line. I am the only man who can tear pages out of Facebook”, some of Golola Moses’ verbal stunts.
