During the 2018 Easter weekend, Grace Nakimera brought joy to hundreds of families in Katooke Zone B, Kireka as she treated them with free food and home requirements to furnish their Easter holiday. Above all, Feed the Streets motivated and inspired kids through preaching and teaching them about GOD and Life.
The campaign is managed by Nakimera’s initiated organisation ‘Feed the Street Foundation’.
“Easter makes one think about sharing and taking part. Eastertime includes cooking traditional meals and sitting at the same table with family, relatives, and friends. When in the Easter mood, people make edible gifts both at home and at work and donate food to those who don’t have much on their table. We’re happy to share with hundreds every month.” Grace Nakimera commented via her official Facebook page.
Grace Nakimera served over 200 Families in Katooke, Zone B, Kireka with Raw Food on day one and climaxed the Easter weekend by sharing a delicious lunch meal with over 500 Kids on Easter Sunday. This was all successfully executed with the help of Nakimera’s big brother, also talented singer and DJ, Juju Kiyingi.
Feed The Streets is proudly supported by #Riham | Hariss International Limited, Ugachick and Mr. Rune Edvardsen.
“Our mission is to reduce homelessness – one step at a time – firstly, through providing food and soul guidance to those most in need.” Grace Nakimera added.
WHY FEED THE STREETS?
A Ugandan living in Kagadi District is 57 times poorer than a person living in Wakiso District and thus 57 chances of missing a basic meal.
According to the estimates of personal incomes reached during a study supported by the American government at the start of 2018, Wakiso District has the highest GDP per capita of $3,250 or Shs11,736,700, while Kagadi District was ranked 116th with a GDP per capita of $57 or Shs 205,843 at the prevailing exchange rate.
Despite such huge gap between the top and bottom districts in GDP per capita, thousands in Wakiso district (No1) also go for a day without a basic meal.
Feed The Streets therefore comes in to bridge such a gap.
